Painting Seashells

Looking for a fun summertime activity? Create a fun seashell adventure with your kiddos by painting seashells, rocks, and shells.
Keyword: kids crafts, seashells

Equipment

  • 1 paintbrush for each color of paint you'll be using

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of seashells could also collect from a beach
  • acrylic paint in colors of choice
  • 1 pack plastic sea stars and sand dollars
  • 1 bag of sand or sandbox
  • 1 bottle super glue
  • 1 bottle matte mod podge for durability

Instructions

  • Do a little prep before starting to paint your seashells. If they're from the beach, you'll want to clean them thoroughly. If you bought a pack at the craft store, then a quick rinse will have them ready to go.
  • Paint the shells in unique colors and patterns, letting your kiddos help. This part is really fun for them!
  • Let them fully dry, then add a layer of matte mod podge for extra durability.
  • Use super glue for the googly eyes. Do this step for your kids (I always keep super glue hidden from my kids and stored someplace safe/they can't get to).

Notes

If you choose to use sand, you may store your sandbox outside. We keep ours on our front porch as an activity option our kids can do anytime, all summer long.
