This paper plate taco craft for kids is a great way to teach them about the Cinco de Mayo holiday in a fun way. They'll love customizing their own tacos!
1yellow paint stickor can alternatively use acrylic paint or markers
4-5piecesconstruction paperin colors of choice for taco toppings
1brown marker
1glue stick
Instructions
Paint your paper plate yellow. You can use acrylic paint, markers, or I recommend using Tempura paint sticks.
Fold your paper plate over, leaving about 1/4 or 1/5 of the white part showing. This will create the shell look and leave you plenty of space to show off your taco toppings.
Tear your construction paper into pieces. Add a line of glue on the inside of the plate and start adding your pieces of paper. I used brown for the taco meat, green for lettuce, and red and orange for salsa and cheese.
After you've added as many toppings as you'd like, glue the other side of the edge of the plate and press to the paper. You'll want to hold it for 15-20 seconds to ensure it sticks. Add any details to your shell with your brown marker, like specks of grain or a face!
Notes
If you're going to use paint instead of a marker or paint marker, you may want to split this craft into two days, or do some additional prep by painting the plates the night before so there's ample dry time.
