Cross Suncatcher or Stained Glass Craft
Using a cross printable is a great way to talk to children about Easter, the cross, and Jesus. If you’re using it with a toddler it’s the perfect craft for to work on while singing Jesus loves me. This is the perfect age to talk about the hope of Easter too which you can do while making handprints to represent the sun around the cross. As a preschool or kindergarten craft they can do more of the cutting and tissue paper assembly with you.

Cross Stained Glass Craft
Ready to make your stained glass cross? Follow these steps!
Supplies Needed
- Cross template
- black cardstock or construction paper
- tissue paper in a variety of colors (this pack is great for making tissue paper flowers too since it’s pre-cut!)
- scissors
- contact paper
Steps to Creating a Stained Glass Cross
- Print out your template(s).
- Trace the cross onto black cardstock and cut out the template. Next, cut out the center of it to create a black border of a cross.
- Cut a piece of contact paper and unroll it so that the sticky side is facing up. Add your cross template to the paper.
- Begin adding squares of tissue paper.
- TIP: Prep this craft by cutting it in advance. Depending on the age of the kid working on it you could also prep by having the outline ready and on the contact paper.
- Fill the cross with the tissue paper squares, it’s ok if it goes over the outline as you’ll be turning it around.
- Turn over and trim the edges of the contact paper so you have the cross shape by itself.
If you’re going to hang in a window, use a piece of tape to secure.
