1 bowl or dish I used a dedicated set for crafting/experiments.
1 set of measuring spoons
4 large craft sticks or as many as kinds of slime you're making.
Ingredients
Ingredients Per Color/Batch of Slime
6ozschool glue, glitter glue or clear glue. Some bottles come in a 4 or 5 oz size. If using one of those I just use the bottle of glue and add a bit of clear if needed/I have it on hand.
½tspbaking soda
1½tbspcontact solutionuse a brand that includes boric acid
optional add-ins like glitter, food coloring or sequins
2cupsshaving creamif making fluffy slime
Instructions
Classic Slime
Add your glue, contact solution and baking soda to a bowl.
Stir to combine- we used larger popsicle or craft sticks and they worked great!
After the ingredients are sticking together, remove from bowl or container and knead to reach that slimey consistency. It should pull itself off your hands.
If it's too dry add a bit more contact solution- but very slowly so it doesn't get too greasy. Humidity/temps will impact this recipe.
Fluffy Slime
Add your glue, contact solution and baking soda to a bowl.
Add your shaving cream to the bowl. Stir to combine- we used larger popsicle or craft sticks and they worked great!
After the ingredients are sticking together, remove from bowl or container and knead to reach that slimey consistency. It should pull itself off your hands.
Notes
This recipe is per color. So if you're making all of them you'll need 4 bottles of glue or 24oz. You can double or triple this recipe to make a larger batch! When making a small batch I typically use the entire bottle of glue. If you’re making large amounts you may want to start buying glue in bulk.If you're making a small batch, I just use 1 bottle of glue. The recipe calls for 6oz but some bottles come in 4oz or 5oz sizes. In that case, I either just use the whole bottle or add a bit of clear glue to make it go further.
There hits a point in the kneading where I’m convinced I won’t ever get this off my counter. Keep going! That’s usually right before it begins to stick together and it will clean itself off the surface.
Humidity and temperatures do affect this recipe. If too hard, slowly add a bit more contact solution and knead together.
Safety note reminder- slime is not edible. Use your best judgement to decide if. your child is ready to handle slime, and supervise them while playing with it.
