Instructions
Candy Sushi Nigiri
Cut your rice krispie treats into smaller rectangles (I got two per .78 oz treat) that will fit your swedish fish or candy topper.
Cut a strip of green airheads (or fruit roll up, sour belt, or other candy rope) and wrap it around your candy to be the seaweed strip that holds it together.
Candy Sushi Maki Roll
Lay out 7 sour belts flat on a piece of wax paper.
Place two rice krispies treats on the belts and use a rolling pin to flatten them out.
Once they are flattened, add a few candy ropes to the middle of your rice krispies treat.
Trim the ends of your ropes with a knife or pizza cutter so there is still some hanging out of each side.
Use a knife to make cuts between the sour belts to create your maki roll pieces.
Notes
TIP: Depending on the sour belt you use, it may want to stick closed better or worse, so if you're having trouble getting it to stay wrapped around the roll, you can use a tiny dap of melting chocolate as a glue to keep it closed where the seams overlap. If you go to roll up your maki roll and your Rice Krispies Treats aren't long enough to go all the way around your filling to make a complete circle, just unroll it flat again and smush on some more treats on one side to extend the length so it will connect the next time you roll it.
Don't forget your "soy sauce" which is chocolate syrup of course!
You can sub out the green Airheads for other items like strips or fruit roll-ups or thinner candy ropes.
Try adding some Nerds Gummies into the middle of your maki roll for some crunch!
You can also use a flattened fruit roll up rather than sour belts as the base of your maki roll.
