These printable pumpkin stencils are perfect for kids to use to decorate their pumpkins this fall season. There are simple pattern options that are both silly and fun for them to pick from. We put together 13 fun free printable templates for carving pumpkins that are free to print and use.
We’ve included a traditional face, silly faces, a spooky (not super spooky) face, a witch, a cat, the word ‘BOO!’, a ghost outline, a spider template, a moon and even some spiders. These are intended to be used for traditional pumpkin carving but would be great to use for painting pumpkins too! How to Carve a Pumpkin with a Template
It’s important to remember that an adult needs to do all of the actual carving. Kids can help with getting the ‘goop’ or ‘guts’ out of the pumpkin, but anytime a knife is being used they should be a safe distance away, and it should be stored in a place they can not get a hold of it.
Supplies Needed
- Pumpkin carving template of choice (pick from below or grab the full set of pumpkin carving stencils)
- tape or push pins
- marker
- knife (again, for adult use only)
Steps to Using a Template
- Have an adult carve the ‘lid’ off of the pumpkin and empty the pumpkin of seeds.
- Print out your template(s).
- Cut out the design of choice and pin or tape it to your pumpkin.
- Trace the shapes onto the pumpkin.
- Have an adult use a knife to cut out the pumpkin shell around the template.
- Display your pumpkin on your porch, steps, or inside your home!
