Gobble gobble! Thanksgiving traditions are all about the parade and the food. Sometimes, it can be hard for kids to contribute to the meal even though they want to! These turkey cookies from oreos are an easy, no-bake dessert for both kids and adults that kids can help make.
This easy kid-friendly Thanksgiving dessert only requires 5 ingredients and about 20 minutes, depending on how many turkeys you plan to make and how many get eaten along the way. I’ve shared a few ideas and my best tips to help make this fun activity a new tradition. If you have younger kiddos they will need some help with this one, older children can make them all on their own.

Ingredients
- Oreos– either regular chocolate or golden. Any variety will work, but the double stuffed is a bit thicker and easier to adhere the candy corn to.
- candy corn (love it or hate it, they make great feathers! 🙂 )
- Frosting
- Icing
- Candy eyes
- Butterscotch chips or mini m&m’s
- Melting chocolate (optional, if wanting to add chocolate base to golden oreos)
These ingredients can be swapped for a variety of options. You can use a mini m&m for the beak or another pieces of candy corn. If you don’t have icing you can use a little drop of frosting with food coloring as an alternative too.
Directions
If using golden oreos and wanting to add a base of brown, melt your chocolate melting wafers in 30-second increments and dip your cookie in. Allow to set.
If you’re using regular oreos, you’ll skip this step!
Add your candy corn to the oreo cookie. I did this by poking the tip of the candy corn inside of the oreo. These is not super stable but you’re going for a cute treat, it doesn’t have to be perfect and feathers will most likely fall out.
Using a dot of frosting or icing, adhere your candy eyes and butterscotch chocolate chip to the oreo cookie base.
Take your red icing and add a small dot to represent the wattle. Allow to dry. Make your turkey cookies a day or two before Thanksgiving and keep in an airtight container. They’ll stay good for a few days, but then will begin to get stale.
Tips or Question
The fun part about these turkey cookies is letting kids assemble them. Candy corn is a very controversial candy but they make perfect feathers and the colors are great for fall. These are sure to be the hit of your dessert table!
