Ingredients
- Heavy whipping cream
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Vanilla extract – or other flavors if you like
- Food dye – I used pink, purple, and blue
- Sprinkles – a mix is great, or you can usually buy unicorn sprinkles too
I like to mix sprinkles with edible glitter, as I feel it adds to the whimsical unicorn charm. But this is totally optional.
How to Make Unicorn Ice Cream
In a stand mixer or with an electric mixer, beat the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. This is kind of a soft whipped cream texture. Using a rubber spatula, fold in the sweetened condensed milk.
Divide the ice cream batter into three or more bowls and gently mix the food coloring into the batter.
Add the different colors of batter and sprinkles to a loaf pan, distributing the colors throughout. Then use a butter knife to gently swirl the colors. Top with more sprinkles.
Cover the loaf pan with a lid or aluminum foil and freeze overnight. Now you can scoop your ice cream and enjoy!
Tips & More Information
- Store the ice cream in the loaf pan with aluminum foil on top or plastic wrap pressed to the top of the ice cream so it doesn’t get freezer burn in the freezer.
- This unicorn ice cream will last in the freezer for up to a month or more.
- If you don’t want to make this vanilla ice cream from scratch, you could also use store-bought vanilla ice cream and mix food dye and sprinkles into it.

My daughter would love this!
Totally impressed my nieces with this recipe. 🙂
This looks SO good! I can’t believe ice cream could look so good without being made with an ice cream maker or some sort of churner, but this looks spot on! I am absolutely in love with the colours, too 😍🌈
Oooh, I’m going to make a Halloween version of this! I have way more Halloween sprinkles than anyone needs.
Question – I do not currently own food coloring. Is there a specific type I should buy, or is it just a “grab whatever is at the grocery store” situation?
Any kind of food coloring will work – I used liquid in this recipe and it may be easier to stir in than gel.
