Whether you are looking for an easy snack to delight a kid or a fun Easter breakfast idea, this bunny made from an English muffin is perfect for the job!

Making a snack like this is a great way to get kids involved in cooking and helping in the kitchen. Plus, they are more likely to try new foods when they helped make it.

These would be perfect around Easter or to celebrate a spring day. If your kids love reading, try making these for a snack time and read a few Easter books for kids to celebrate the season.

Why kids love bunny English muffins:

  • Making fun faces out of food is a great way to get kids excited about eating, and it encourages them to try a food they normally wouldn’t!
  • You can also make it educational by looking up a fun bunny fact (did you know that bunnies purr like a cat when they are happy?) or finding out what kinds of rabbits live near you.
  • You can choose to either surprise your child with the snack and see their eyes light up, or you can make it together like an edible craft!

What you’ll need to make it:

  1. English muffin (or you can cut toast into a round shape too!)
  2. Cream cheese (plain or strawberry)
  3. Raspberry (for the nose)
  4. Chocolate chips for eyes and mouth (I used regular for eyes and minis for the mouth)
  5. Chives (or other veggie or fruit) for whiskers
  6. Banana (for the ears)

How to Make A Bunny English Muffin:

  1. Toast your English muffin.
  2. Spread cream cheese (I used strawberry cream cheese) evenly over your muffin.
  3. Add a raspberry, piece of strawberry, or other berry choice for the nose. Then, add two chocolate chips for the eyes (you could also use blueberries for the eyes).
  4. Cut a banana in half and then cut it lengthwise to make two ears, and place them at the top of your bunny head.
  5. Add pieces of chives (or long thin strips of apple, carrots, or bell peppers would work) for the whiskers, and then complete with a mouth made out of mini chocolate chips. Serve and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I store bunny English muffins?

Since these are made of fresh fruit and toast, these don’t store well in the fridge for very long. If you want to make them ahead of time, you can keep them in the fridge for an hour or so. They should be eaten soon after that (before the banana starts to brown).

Can I make this English muffin bunny dairy-free or vegan?

Yes! Use a vegan English muffin (like Dave’s Killer Bread, Food for Life, or Rudi’s). For a dairy-free version, choose a vegan cream cheese spread instead of regular cream cheese.

Can I substitute other fruits/veggies for the decorations?

Of course! Any fruit or veggie can be used for the decoration part if your kid has a preferred list of foods. You can use only berries if you don’t want to use chocolate chips, and you can swap the chive whiskers with small strips of apple, carrot, or bell peppers. Get creative with how to decorate yours!

Can I use something else if my kid doesn’t like cream cheese?

Try making the face base with butter and jelly if your kiddo doesn’t love cream cheese, or hummus and veggies for a savory version.
