Butterfly Template

We’ve created 12 unique butterfly templates in various sizes for you to print and use for crafts and decor!

There are classic shaped butterflies, butterflies with details, and several plain butterfly outlines that can be colored in. These free templates are a fun activity for kids to do at home, in a classroom, or at daycare.

Below you will find a PDF file that you can download to print. We’ve included butterfly outlines in full page versions as well as smaller versions with many butterflies per page.

Children get to actively help with this project and it’s a great way to teach them about insects. Once their butterfly is complete, they can play with it, add decorations, or use it in a story while playing make believe.

When they see a butterfly in a book, in nature, or on a TV show, and they make their own version, it encourages and teaches them more about the insect. Head to the library and find a few butterfly-themed books too! A few of our favorites include: Waiting for Wings and Counting Butterflies !
