Lantern Printable Coloring Page

Using a printable is a fun way to teach children of all ages about different cultures and holidays. If you’re using it with a toddler it’s the perfect craft to pair with mooncake crayons. As a preschool or kindergarten craft they can do more of the cutting and coloring with you. You can also print out multiple pages of the parts of the lanterns and use it as an opportunity to learn about customizing lanterns and decorating them in different ways and what that can symbolize.

Ready to make your cut out lantern? Follow these steps!

Supplies Needed

Construction paper or cardstock in red and yellow (assorted paper pack)
school glue
scissors
markers or crayons

Steps to Assembling Your Lunar New Year Lantern

Print out your template(s).
Cut out the body of the lantern and trace it onto red paper.
Next trace and cut out the top and base of the lantern and trace onto yellow paper.
Glue the pieces together.
Use markers, crayons or other craft supplies to decorate the lanterns.
